This edition of Student Life, hosted by Buku and Nande, is loaded with two major sections, one with Sedzani and LeJean from the Face to Face Beauty and Make-up Design School and the other with Fashion Designer Nelly Nyathi from Malaya.
Sedzani and Lejean talk about their passion, why they are in make-up school, and the qualities required to pursue their careers in beauty. Sedzani also shows us a few tools of her trade, and explains some parts of the manicure process. LeJean talks about the career opportunities you can get into if you have make-up training.
Nelly from Malaya, speaks about how her mum was a fashion designer, and so she just grew up in a fashion design background, and thus decided to study fashion. She says to pursue this career path, you firstly need the passion, and then you need to know how to sketch, and then pattern design.
Nelly speaks about how she has a busy day divided between meeting clients and designing in the studio. She also speaks about how she designs, but has tailors to whom she passes on the design for them to make the clothes. Nelly says her outstanding advantage is that she is a christian and that speaking in tongues when she works brings excellence to her work and designs.
Nelly Nyathi also exhibits a couple of her designs, modelled on the set by Didi and Siphesihle. Nelly says the next step for her is expansion, going international. This informative episode is tailored to inspire someone out there who would like to pursue a career in Fashion or Beauty.
