Having earlier announced nominees for the Future Africa Leaders’ Award (FALA) 2016 on LoveWorldSAT Television, and other LoveWorld stations and CeFLIX, the New Year Service heralded the FALA Winner for the year. The nomination show was captivating, hosted by CEC Member, Pastor T. T. Edun. LMAM artistes added flavor to the program through special renditions, while past FALA winners discussed the impact of the recognition of their work in their communities.

The Star Prize Winner of the 2015 Edition – Rose Sakala, from Malawi, caused tears of joy to fill the eyes of thousands around the world as her citation was read during the 2015 New Year’s Eve Service with Pastor Chris. Out of adverse circumstances, she triumphed and became a blessing to other young people in her world. This year’s nominees are no different, being exemplars of true success in their impact on the world around them.

The nomination show revealed 28 nominees from 18 African countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Kenya and Cameroon. Nigeria and South Africa produced the highest number of nominees with 3 each from the countries, followed by Zambia, Mozambique, Angola, Ghana, Togo and Malawi, each with 2 nominees.

The Future Africa Leaders Award is an establishment of the man of God, Rev. (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, to recognize and encourage young people throughout the continent who have committed themselves to Africa’s socio-economic growth and stability. And finally, at the Awards event, 10 winners of the Future Africa Leaders’ Award were announced from the list of 28 nominees from 18 African nations. The young people recognized with this prestigious honor are those who have distinguished themselves in service to their nations and communities.

Young Karen Musodza from South Africa was further honored among the winners as the FALA Star Winner 2016 for her outstanding efforts, reaching thousands of youths in her world.

As a FALA Ambassador, Karen will also be afforded resources to help expand her work and establish her impact in her nation.

Fred Adom - Togo

Fred Adom is a vibrant youth leader who has inspired others to aspire to his aspirations. Recognizing the need for youth to be taught and properly mentored, he has organized success seminars and other motivational workshops in his university in Lome and across secondary schools in his city. He partnered with some organizations to provide stationery as well as Christian motivational books to the students in attendance. A cumulative of 5000 students across different schools in Togo have attended his programs.

Recognizing the power of the arts to reach young people, Francis is the leader of a dance group “Super Nova” that has organized programs in beaches, campuses, clubs and other places, to impact even more youth with his life-affirming and positive message.

Wisdom Jacob - Nigeria

He collaborated with organisations in his home country to organize a Leaders’ Summit tagged (Inspiring Sustainable Development in Agriculture)

Wisdom Jacob is a 19-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur and youth leader. Inspired to impact his world with the investment of his personality, Wisdom organizes agricultural seminars in public and private secondary schools where he educates young people on Agriculture and Aquaculture. 
 
He organized seminars like (Agriculture: The Way Forward in Nigeria). Educating young people on the potentials of the agricultural sector of the economy, highlighting the benefits and the opportunities in the sector, he inspired young people to become economic change agents by producing and marketing agricultural products. 
 
He collaborated with organisations in his home country to organize a Leaders’ Summit tagged (Inspiring Sustainable Development in Agriculture). This entrepreneurial training summit on Agriculture offered agro-business skills to 320 young people in the areas of catfish farming, crop production and technology.
Attendees were taught how to utilize their backyards and school farmyard for sustainable and subsistence agricultural practices to boost food production. He also distributed Christian materials to the beneficiaries. Wisdom Jacob set up a catfish hatchery to groom 100 young entrepreneurs within his community.  This initiative has produced over 33,000 fingerlings, 28,000 pieces sold.
He also organized a meeting on Saint Valentine’s Day where he spoke to over 700 teenagers on how they can impact their world and be forces of positive change. He pioneered 6 youth clubs in the past one-year which resulted in noteworthy change in the lives of over 500 young people with commendations from the schools principals. 
 
He is a dynamic leader in the youth ministry, passionate about youth leadership and has impacted over 3,000 teenagers in the course of the year. We applaud Wisdom Jacob.
John Maganga - Malawi

Inspired by the vision to empower the youths, in February 2016 he launched the (Impact your World) initiative. Through this initiative, he has organised prison outreaches at Mzuzu Prison distributing over 1000 copies of Christian materials.

John Maganga is a youth leader from Malawi. He leads an ever-expanding Christian group for which he has received several recognition. 
 
Inspired by the vision to empower the youths, in February 2016 he launched the (Impact your World) initiative. Through this initiative, he has organised prison outreaches at Mzuzu Prison distributing over 1000 copies of Christian materials. He provided the inmates with daily necessities such as soap and food, impacting over 1500 inmates. He pioneered a youth group in the juvenile section of the prison where he mentors a hundred youngsters. From this group, he pioneered a church in Mzuzu Prison, which meets every Sunday with a weekly average attendance of 250. He installed a satellite decoder in the prison for the inmates to watch wholesome Christian programs required for their spiritual development and rehabilitation. 
 
He also took the (Impact Your World) initiative to hospitals in Mzuzu, Malawi, where he has impacted over 1000 patients, guardians and medical officials, through his weekly visitations to clean up the hospital wards, encourage the sick and distribute Christian materials.
 
Mandated to spread to every mans world and to create a platform for the youths to be encouraged to become leaders, John organised two major Youth Conferences with over 1500 in attendance. 
 
He also organised two Leaders Conferences in Malawi on the International Youth Day 2016, impacting 187 youths and another tagged “Inspiring Generation Next” impacting 2,376 youths. 
 
John took the “Impact Your World Initiative” to secondary schools and universities were he organised 15 academic excellence seminars using the book “The Power of Your Mind”. Over 1700 students were impacted with knowledge and equipped with information to achieve their academic goals and succeed in life. This initiative resulted in the pioneering of 4 Christian clubs with the collective membership strength of 270. John also pioneered a youth church in his local church with current membership strength of 100. 
 
In October 2016, he launched “Reach A Youth Initiative”.  Through the initiative, he sponsored school fees of 110 secondary and university students in Mzuzu, Malawi, distributed 100 packs of sanitary pads monthly to girls at Zolozolo boarding school in Mzuzu, and empowered young people to strive for academic excellence through tutorial classes on science subjects and academic skills.
 
For his passionate advocacy and impact in the lives over 16,000 youths through his different initiatives, programs and events, lets celebrate John Maganga.
Barbara Sunguti - Kenya

She partnered with a non-governmental organization (NGO) that cares for orphans and the less privileged to provide food and clothing to needy children

22-year-old Barbara Akong`o Sunguti is a committed and passionate leader who has changed the lives of many youths in Kenya. She is a member of a youth group in her university where she has influenced and impacted hundreds of people.  
 
She partnered with a non-governmental organization (NGO) that cares for orphans and the less privileged to provide food and clothing to needy children. Furthermore, she became actively involved in the NGOs feeding programs for childrens homes, mentoring and nurturing the orphans towards a better future. In 2016, she incorporated more individuals to partner with the NGO through the provision of food items and organized visits to the various homes.
 
She also organized several mentorship programs and leadership training programs for students in high schools. She worked closely with the school authorities to ensure maximum participation of the students in these training and developmental programs. This has led to the rise of a new breed of leaders who believe in the future of Kenya, and are following in Barbaras footsteps to impact other youths.
 
From 2014 to 2016, Barbara has worked closely in mentoring girls in one of Kenyas Rehabilitation Centres for girls and has been a source of hope and a role model to these girls, who were once street kids and drug addicts. She also provides toiletries and clothes for these young girls who now believe they have a future.
 
We salute the courage and drive of Barbara Akongo Sunguti, in making the her community a better place.
Brenda Formin - Cameroon

Having been raised by a single mother, and overcoming health challenges and other adversities at a young age, 19-year-old Brenda Formin Fuen believes she can make the world a better place

Having been raised by a single mother, and overcoming health challenges and other adversities at a young age, 19-year-old Brenda Formin Fuen believes she can make the world a better place and has set herself on a course for impacting lives, and offering all that she can in her service to humanity. Over the past 4 years, Brenda has impacted children and teenagers alike with several life-changing campaigns, which include school clubs, leadership training programmes, youth camps and other initiatives.
 
In the year 2016, Brenda embarked on a special project to curb unemployment, decrease the rate of crime and to reduce the spate of teenage pregnancy. 
 
Under the auspices of the Delegation of Secondary Education, she gained authorization to organize youth empowerment seminars in schools, through which youths were enlightened on pertinent issues including health, academic success, career and leadership. Participants were also taught to give back to society through the beautification of their environments and other community development projects. Aided by a team of like-minded, passion-driven activists, Brenda impacted 17,718 students across 17 schools in 2016. These seminars not only impacted the students, but also teachers, educational administrators, high-ranking police officers and other stakeholders. 
 
On the National Guidance Counselling Day, she participated in a special outreach, affecting over 7,000 young people and encouraging them to imbibe the discipline required for making the most of every given opportunity.
 
Brenda has touched over 700 prisoners through various seminars and outreaches where she taught them the values of education and encouraged them to embark on personal development projects. As a result, 50 of these prisoners have enrolled in a special back-to-school drive and volunteer teachers are available to tutor them every week. Brenda also set up 2 libraries in different prison facilities to enable the inmates study and better themselves.
 
In collaboration with an NGO, Brenda and her team donated over 1,000 educational books and Christian materials to various libraries in schools, orphanages and prisons. She also set up a Teachers Resource Centre at the Delegation of Secondary Education. 
 
Building others and making the society a safe haven for all through education and consistent motivation makes Brenda Formin Fuen stand out an inspiration to the world. We salute and celebrate her work.
Enoch Afotey - Ghana

On a weekly basis, he addresses audiences of over 23,000, including the students, teachers and administrative staff of different schools, impacting them with life transforming teachings.

22-year-old Enoch Afotey is a bright young man who has purposed in his heart to make a difference in his country, Ghana. He has taken steps towards this change by going through the public relations services and schools. He established teenage clubs in 60 schools, as well as two youth leaders clubs.

On a weekly basis, he addresses audiences of over 23,000, including the students, teachers and administrative staff of different schools, impacting them with life transforming teachings. He has also distributed over 25,000 free copies of Christian materials to these students and teachers. The impact of these trainings have been remarkable as youths with academic difficulties and social vices have experienced positive change.

In the month of July, he organized a youth leadership conference with over 2,500 youths in attendance and challenged them to take up various developmental roles and leadership positions. This program made notable impact as various young people in attendance at this program have taken up leadership roles in their schools, making major impact in their institutions.

Enoch is the CEO of Star Webs and Graphics Multimedia, and he has created employment opportunities for young people in his company. He trained over 15 people in entrepreneurship skills, including graphics and website design, thereby making them independent.

He has a passion to help orphaned youth and street children. This led him to partner with organizations and individuals to adopt two childrens homes, to which he supplies welfare packages such as clothing, food items and the likes. He has also organized several girl-child outreach programs which, to a large extent, have led to the suppression of girl-child abuse in his community; hence, a reduction in the number of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Enoch pioneered a talent-coaching program where he adopted over 20 football clubs. He supplies them with football kits and Christian materials, and also encourages them to use their talents as a tool to bring about positive change in the society.

He and his team adopted the (Educational Excellence Program). This program has brought about significant change in the lives of students and teachers in 14 schools, where they distributed over 20,000 free copies of Christian materials on mind management. Another program was organized for teachers, where over 500 of them were in attendance, along with the deputy minister of education and members of parliament.

Enoch Afotey has caused indelible impact in the lives of thousands of youths in Ghana and has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills.

Joel Tiago - Angola

He has organized success seminars and leadership development programs in high schools and tertiary institutions, encouraging the youth to shun vices and focus on acquiring skills that would help them fulfil their dreams.

Tiago Joel is a self-motivated youth leader with a drive to see young people maximize their potential and become successes in life. He endured early beginnings as a refugee and thus developed a passion to reach out to similar at-risk youth and see them succeed despite their temporary circumstances. His outstanding work has impacted over 1 million youth and high school students across Portuguese speaking countries such as his native Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Madagascar.

He has organized success seminars and leadership development programs in high schools and tertiary institutions, encouraging the youth to shun vices and focus on acquiring skills that would help them fulfil their dreams. He has set up over 10 youth clubs on campuses and high schools to further mentor young people and guide them rightly. He also organized entrepreneurship and skill acquisition classes to equip former street urchins join the workforce, becoming gainfully employed.
Passionately committed to helping at-risk youth, he partnered with some organizations to provide food and much needed amenities to orphanages, inner city schools, as well as hospitals in his city.

His work with the youth got him an invitation to a TV program with a viewership of over a million Portuguese speaking viewers. His motivational speech inspired youth across several countries and he has been invited as a regular presenter on the program. Tiago is an exemplary role model whose success story has inspired young people to greater aspirations.

Silas Mwanangombe - Zambia

He raised funds to contribute to the development of 15 community schools by organising a special parade. He also secured the financial support of a bank in Zambia for the provision of school uniforms and other amenities for the children.

Silas Mwanangombe is a 20-year-old from Zambia who has dedicated himself to the service of his community. As a youth volunteer in one of the local schools, he coaches over 600 young people, instilling the right mind-set in them through close mentoring and guidance. He also advocated the inclusion of Christian materials in the curriculum for 20 schools and donated several copies to the school library for over 800 pupils’ daily use.

This year, Silas carried out a project tagged, ‘I Will Make a Difference’ – an on-air campaign in collaboration with 6 radio stations where he used his talents in music to preach moral values and self-esteem to the young people of Zambia, with a view to cultivating in them the right attitude for nation-building and positive change. Thousands of young people have had their lives transformed as a result of his radio outreaches.

He raised funds to contribute to the development of 15 community schools by organising a special parade. He also secured the financial support of a bank in Zambia for the provision of school uniforms and other amenities for the children.

He also reaches out to orphanages with feeding programs and the like. Silas also secured scholarships for several teenagers as a part of his investment in their futures. Furthermore, he organises talent events where he awards the best talents and has encouraged over 500 youths to develop themselves and become the best wherever they are. Through special programs on public holidays like Independence Day and Valentine’s Day, Silas inspires young people to remain focused and united in the cause to build a greater and stronger nation.

Silas is also an advocate for the girl-child; he actively campaigns against early marriages and organizes special classes for educating young girls on how to protect themselves from abuse and avoid unwanted pregnancies.

Silas Mwanangombe has demonstrated exemplary leadership and impacted his world with his extraordinary personality. We hail his remarkable contributions and service to the society.

Frank Nkya - Tanzania

One of his unique initiatives, the (Building Africa Strong Through Agriculture) programme, has reached out to more than 500 individuals, helping them realise and affect the potential of economic growth through agriculture.

One of his unique initiatives, the (Building Africa Strong Through Agriculture) programme, has reached out to more than 500 individuals, helping them realise and affect the potential of economic growth through agriculture. He also started a (Free Loan Access for Farmers) scheme that has helped over 30 farmers either start up or upgrade their commercial farming systems. Already, he has plans to further improve the agricultural industry by creating forums where the farmers will be trained as entrepreneurs and financial stakeholders in the economy of Tanzania and Africa as a whole.

Through his youth transformation programmes, Frank has raised over 150 youth leaders who are shaping the future of Tanzania and the world with God-given principles. His passion for excellence and many leadership innovations have gained him notable commendations from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tanzania and other distinguished leaders in the country.

Frank Nkya is bringing hope to life, and we are assured that he, and all those he has impacted, will make a great difference in Africa and the world in years to come. We applaud Frank and his innovative thinking.
