A view from SA parliamentarians!
South Africa has a hate-crime problem that urgently needs to be dealt with, but the “hate-speech bill” is not the vehicle to accomplish this. Members of the public have until 15 February 2019 to make their voices heard on the Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill. The Bill aims to provide for the offence of hate crime and the offence of hate speech, but what does it say about the people of faith. Yvonne asked some of the Parliamentarians attending the 2019 State of the Nation Address.
